Technical Support: timber technology

The Frame Technologies team offers a wealth of expertise, with over 30 years of experience in the timber industry. When you come to us, your self build really is in good hands.

We can help at every stage of your design and construction project and advise you on Building Regulations, bespoke timber frames, timber technology, thermal performance and all areas of technical support.

Building Regulations Service

Your home needs to comply with Building Regulations to ensure safety and quality. You may have bought a plot that comes with full planning approval, but not Building Regulations approval. We can take the drawings you received with your purchase of the plot and prepare your Building Regulations service for a fixed fee.

We are fully up to speed with the latest changes to the current regulations and are partnered with a private building control company who can offer national coverage and manage all applications. We know the inspectors, and they are familiar with our timber frame systems and timber technology, so we have a mutual understanding. We submit all projects to this company to ensure seamless processes and maximum value.

Bespoke Timber Frame

We will discuss and agree on a specification for your new timber frame home during the order stage. We will consider important factors during the design stage, including whether you will be using heat recovery/ventilation, underfloor heating and other thermal performance systems. We will then issue you a ‘Soleplate Drawing’ and section drawings for your approval. Once approved, these must be issued to your groundworker to build your slab.

Next, we will issue preliminary drawings for your approval and to make any adjustments. Once you have approved the drawings, we will finalise manufacturing information. Any delays in signing off the design may delay delivery. Your bespoke timber frame will then be issued to our facility in Presteigne for manufacture, where we will maintain control of your project through every stage of the journey and prepare pre-fabricated components for delivery to your site.

Thermal Performance

High-performance insulation is key to meeting Building Regulations and instrumental in reducing heating bills, leaving you with bigger budgets for your home design and lifestyle.

At Frame Technologies, we differ from many other providers as we are specialists in timber technology. We can supply all the insulations you need, and factory fit these into timber frame panels. With our experience in thermal performance, we pride ourselves on our ability to advise you on the most cost-effective but thermally-efficient insulations for your project, as well as highlighting any areas where improvements could be made.

We can also carry out SAP calculations (required by Building Control) to measure the thermal performance of your home. There are trade-offs that can help you to achieve ultimate performance at affordable prices, and we can discuss these with you based on your individual requirements and budget.

Technical Support

Helpful members of the Frame Technologies team are always just a phone call away, no matter what stage of your journey you are at. We can assist with enquiries, discuss timber technology and take orders, as well as answer any queries following the delivery and erection of your timber frame structure. We consider each of our customers as individuals, not numbers, and recognise that this may be the largest investment you will ever make. We also always keep in mind that this is your dream home, and we will work with you to fulfil that dream instead of adapting it to suit – even if there are challenges to overcome.

We will always be happy to assist, whether you require guidance on your groundworks, scaffolding specifications or finished project.

One of the things that makes us unique is that we offer one point of contact from enquiry to completion, so you are guaranteed a personal service and in-depth technical expertise at every stage of the process.
