Getting a quote for your self-build cost from Frame Technologies could not be easier. To begin the quotation process, simply send your drawings and supporting information to us by email. We accept drawings in both DWG and PDF formats.

Depending on how far you have progressed your project, there are two different types of quotation we can provide to give you an idea of your self-build cost.

Budget estimate: if you are in the early stages of your project and have not yet decided on budgets and building solutions, we can advise you accordingly based on pre-planning drawings alone. While this is not a final quotation, our expert team can offer an indication of the costs for your build.

Full quotation: if you have progressed further through the build process, we can provide a quotation based on approved planning drawings, proposed U-Values, airtightness targets, timescales, site conditions and access.

If you require more advice on what information to send or what options are available, please contact us and we will be more than happy to guide you through the process. Please allow up to ten working days for your quotation to be finalised. If you need it sooner, let us know and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

In order to get the most accurate quote and to have a more comprehensive idea of your self-build cost, it’s helpful to provide as much information as possible to the timber frame supplier.

Plans

If you are in the planning stages, you should provide early planning drawings, and any floor plans and elevation drawings you have. If your project has progressed well and your build has received planning approval, and is now at building regulation stage, we will ask for dimensional drawings, site plans and section elevations.

Objectives

It is important to let your timber frame supplier know what your motivations are. For example, if one of your objectives is to achieve a sustainable build, or if you have any specifications that you hope to be incorporated in your build, share this as early as possible.

Involvement

Always be honest about the level of involvement you would like from a supplier. There is no wrong answer, so if you have experience in construction and plan to be very hands-on, and therefore require minimal support, that’s okay. If you only need the product and plan to install the frame yourself, we can do that. Or if, on the other hand, this is your first project and you would like more support, we are very happy to work closely with you at every stage.

Extras

It is crucial to read quotes carefully and ensure you understand everything you see. If anything is unclear or does not makes sense to you, question it. You don’t want any surprises down the line that could impact your overall self-build cost.

You should also check that everything you need to pay for is included in the initial quote. Sometimes the mechanical handling fees, which includes cranes and forklifts, are not quoted. And if they are, you should check that it also includes offloading costs.

The final thing to check is whether the structural elements of the frame are included in the quoted cost. You cannot build a timber frame house without the structural steelwork, and vice versa, so it’s important to make sure you have an idea of the cost of all components.
