An introduction to Frame Technologies’ TechVantage™ Systems

Timber frame has always led the building industry on a technical level.

It is naturally airtight and offers improved thermal performance, while also allowing for additional technology to be incorporated into the timber components. Using timber frame technology can help self-builders to achieve excellent energy efficiency, environmental best practice and a cosy, long-lasting home.

One of the things that sets Frame Technologies apart is that we offer different technology options, which can cater for individual requirements. Frame Technologies’ TechVantage™ Systems are at the forefront of structurally insulated panel technology, delivering exceptional energy-efficient building envelopes.

All three of our TechVantage™ Systems have the capability of exceeding Building Regulations to deliver Passivhaus performance, if the brief demands it. The range includes a super insulated panel system (Tech E), a super insulated breathable closed panel system (Tech S), and a super insulated breathable twin frame panel system (Tech T).

The lower the U-value, the better the insulation, and our insulation solutions can achieve between 0.30 and less than 0.09 W/ m²K, meeting the minimum required U-value of 0.30 W/ m²K in external walls of new build homes. Our insulation solutions can also comply with any Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) and calculation requirements.

Recently, we’ve seen an increase in people looking for natural insulation. While it has always been of interest, it has become much more popular, as products are more readily available. It is possible to have a breathable wall timber frame along with glasswool or other natural insulations and still achieve low U-values, as long as there is an increased wall thickness – people are using the latest twin stud systems, which are achieving incredible 0.09 U-values.

Our breathable closed panel systems are manufactured in a precision-controlled factory environment to ensure high-performance thermal insulation and exceptional U-values.
